The reality is that trump spent his whole time in office weakening European energy security. Without Nordsteam 2 Europe/ Germany are all dependent on countries like Ukraine & Belarus not to mess with their gas. So during the war if there was no Nordsteam 2 and someone started blowing up the pipelines all of Europe would be totally fucked. Now they can simply turn on Nordsteam 2
Also Europe was trying to diversify and source gas from Iran, they invested billions of dollars to do it, then trump tore up Iran deal and under constant threat of sanctions from Trump on European companies, Europe had to abandon that
This also presumably comes from a place where you think Europe is simply just going to buy American gas or something forever and just not use Russian gas? They are just going to pay 3x more to liquefy and ship overseas, and America doesn't even have that much gas?
