I made one of these in my shed for when I was working on projects. It kinda worked, and I have insulation in my shed and it still wasn't really all that effective, but it did keep it above freezing. Used one of those big 4 wick candles though. Why would you use teacup candles? Those things barely last 20 minutes.

Yeah I’ve seen a cabin on a sled that some dude rigged to heat with candles. Same setup, the big huge ones like they put at church altars. You have to vent it though or you’re risking a carbon monoxide buildup.

Beeswax is already $250 per lb, but the price isnt the problem, you cant FIND IT.
99.999% of candle market is parafin, a toxic substitute which cant be remelted or reused. Smart people got beeswax already, I have 10lb of it in a tin.
You can also make airgun pellets from beeswax, just rip off a small ball of it and jam it in the airgun action. Good enough to kill quail.

Soi candles arent toxic, but they will smoke more and leave marks on your ceiling. Also they cant be re-used as much. Beeswax is the only material that literally never stops being reusable, only the portion of it that burns up/is used as fuel by the wick (small portion) is lost, rest can be recast forever.
Soi can be recast at best 10-20 times. Parafin (most candles) becomes difficult after 5 recasts. If you cant get beeswax, tallow/oil lamp is the next best choice for a prepper, even with the ridiculous soot issue. I would say soi and alternative plant based candle is third best choice.
btw with bee dieoff beeswax is expected to go over $10,000/lb within a few years. Its incredibly important to manufacturing some medicines and cosmetics.
