Subversive software

It is well known that Microsoft and Apple send data about programs you run to their motherships:

Do any of your Any Forumsiticians actually run pic rel?

PopOS here. Used to use mint debian. Pop was more convenient install when I got a new laptop with discrete gpu. Is gentoo full of anti "slave/master" "user covenant" trannies or has it been able to squeak by without infestation so far?

It seems reasonable. I am left wondering what they mean by misinformation in the context of linux development discussion.

Surprisingly, the talk page is sparse. Did they have to clean it up?

Can anyone give me a qrd on how to set this shit up? I've used Linux in the past, but I rarely did much with it outside of the GUI, and know fuck-all about setting up a fresh install with Gentoo or Arch.

CoC is cancerous but also extremely common. Linux kernel itself has a CoC.
Unfortunately it is easier to let it slide than to have troonsquads descend on your project.

The shit test in using gentoo is your ability (or inability) to read the wiki

Don't bother with Arch it is full of shit you will never use. Go with something like Pop OS. or vanilla Ubuntu. It is no longer complicated. You may have to use the terminal once or twice but it's literally just copy and paste. There is a tutorial for everything you need to know on youtube. You can do a test run on a virtual machine if you feel like it.

I have a 3GB of ram Toughbook that I will never connect to the internet. Its 64 bit and has 32 bit Windows and Ubuntu (former owners were weird). I want to put Windows 7 on it so I can run shitty little JFF videogames on it and use it as a backup archive in case I GTFO.

How do I do this without giving it AIDS?

>I want to put Windows 7 on it
>How do I do this without giving it AIDS?
I don't know one could be this retarded.

>The shit test in using gentoo is your ability (or inability) to read the wiki
can confirm.
wish they'd get off of python for portage, though. so ridiculous, sometimes.

Aw shit I wrote don't instead of didn't.
Either way don't install window on it if you want to actually own your machine

I'm running Ubuntu because it was suggested to me as Linux for babbys. I still don't have full functionality with it. Things just "sort of" work. A lot of windows programs straight are just straight up incompatible, even with WINE. The thing that I most salty about though is that I can't get modded Skyrim VR to work. I've tried off and on for months, read tons of random comments and threads on random board about how to do it, tried both MO2 (my preference) and Vortex (which sucks but I'm that desperate), and it doesn't work. It just doesn't work.

>Subversive software
I thought you were referring to Gentoo as subversive because it tactically wastes all of peoples time.

It would never be connected to the internet though, and Windows 7 is nice. Can you recommend a lightweight OS that could fit a computer from 2007 and would actually let me run Windows programs (if such a thing exists).

Windows 7 is your best bet unironically. Just make sure to never enable network sharing or other settings that expose it to known vulnerabilities.

what model?
ideally I'd max out the ram as spare ddr2/3 is cheap as fuck and put an SSD in there. if you live near a microcenter they have a $20 1TB sata/nvme SSD sale going right now with some coupon.
>Windows 7
fully updated 7 has the same tracking shit as 8/10/11. use an older ISO ( i don't know which) or if you don't care all that much throw LTSC win 10 on it. it's the closest thing to modern win7 you can get
>AIDS
it's an intel laptop, it's pozzed by kikes from the factory.

I daily ubuntu but I keep a windows install just for a lot of games. I just cba to jump thru hoops to get shit running 100%, if it's not rated high in wine/lutris I don't bother.

You could try using an up to date version of windows 10 LTSC(the enterprise version). Using windows 7 would be just kneecapping yourself for no good reason, i'm not sure how well win10 would run on a computer that old but if you are really concerned about performance on such an old machine then you could just drop the need to run windows programs and go with something relatively lightweight and stable. I personally run Debian on my servers and its served me quite well.

>what model?
CF-30
4GB RAM max with 3GB installed
>>AIDS
>Intel
Its Panasonic and the Intel processor is the last they made before ME became a thing. Once again this laptop was bought so that I would not need to connect it to the internet.

Get arch.

This. My fucking GitHub account got Hillary’d because I kept rejecting pull request of people asking that I change the master-slave database verbiage and rename the master branch to main.

>ignores backdoors in kernel
>muhh FOSS
Imagine gladly using GIMP over chad Adobe Photoshop on a Mac

Wut

Essential thing for personal .gitconfig:

[init]
defaultBranch = master

you can legitimately say you are doing this for "compatibility" and "legacy reasons"
