taxpayers paid for the debt when it was issued, not when it's repaid. Think for two seconds about how debts work. The taxpayer was never going to see the interest, the state keeps that. Once the loan was granted, THAT'S when you lost your tax money. Whether or not they repay is irrelevant with respect to the taxpayer.

The US federal gouvernment didn't forgive the debts of all those students. It forgave the contracts and signed those debts onto their own ledgers, so they have even more debt to trade to the Federal Reserve for more loans and even more hyperinflation.
