The answer is, state sanctioned slavery doesn't really exist. In shit holes like Africa, the middle east, india, and china slaves do exist.
The middle east especially is rife with modern day slave larping. The Emirates are especially eggregious where they'll fly in phillipinos, take their passports, and now they can't leave. Worse, their embassy is next to useless and probably doesn't help them get new ones.
