It's a bit of a nuanced thing. When people are on similar schedules then seeing neighbors bring in groceries is more common place. But when schedules are different you will not see it really. Most people either have a day where they buy groceries like stocking up for awhile, while others, especially city people, don't stock up and instead just buy what they need for a few days at a time or less.
