The Pennslyvania Turnpike costs like $70 to go from one end to the other.
Tolls were TEMPORARY in the FIFTYS to offset costs, and 70 years later theyre still here and more expensive than ever

Ironic since I-90 (not 94) was built as an express road from Chicago to the steel mills in Indiana like Gary and Burns Harbor in the 50s, and now its the most expensive toll road in the entire state

Why do tolls still exist? Because in America the rentier class has won. No public infrastructure is possible here, since about 10 years ago, without "a public-private partnership." This is held to be good policy.

I do live in the area. when the 80/94 junction is ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION OR BACKED UP, sometimes the skyway seems like the better option.
Last week it took me over an hour to get from alsip on 294 to i-65 in indiana. over an hour for less than 30 miles.
this is the traffic RIGHT NOW, and its like this all the time.
