Do the math on how much electricity is required to charge these things. I saw a video charging a Ford Lightning. It took 14 hours at 30 amps on at 240 volt charger.
240v×30a=7200watts or 7.2kwh(30 amps is peak rating not constant) 7.2kwh×14hours=100.8kwh Price of kwh (kilowatt hour) is $0.1047 in Washington State 100.8kwh×$.1047=$10.55 per charge Rates are higher in many places, some are lower.

because libs fucking hate good ideas, it's what makes them libs. plug in series hybrids get the efficiency of every other EV in city driving and have the energy capacity (in a 5 gallon tank feeding a 1 liter engine) to drive continuously on the highway at normal (80mph+) speeds.
since everyone switching to this kind of vehicle would be an improvement in the public's well being, this is banned by policy in favor of an option that restricts an individual's freedom of movement.
also, EVs require public charging stations that can demand insane prices for electricity while stranding their owner to rely on nearby restaurants and hotels. series hybrids can fuel up on gas every few months in normal usage and otherwise rely on the owner's home charging for daily driving, which doesn't get price gouged by charging stations.
the idea of regular people having better material conditions is anathema to the lib, so they use the EPA and DOT to make sure good hybrids never make it to market.
