You will never know what it is like to fight with your brothers over the curried rice in the bowl, or eat off a freshly picked banana leaf. You dont comprehend that touch is a part of taste, same as smell, without it you only enjoy the food 1/2 as much. You will never have the taste of sour tanginess from your mothers hands which mixed the curry and also wiped herself. Imagine how good western cooks would be if their utensil could measure heat like a mothers mixing hands. Food can also be broken down if it is too tough to chew by older or younger people, who are left to starve in the west. I cry every time I have to manipulate a disgusting foreign object into my food, then like an acrobat, use it to balance food to my mouth. The texture of the food is always a surprise this way, it is shockingly bad. I only can do it because I imagine a spoon is a small bowl for rats.
