Why are you not going above and beyond?

A lot of people have become conditioned to changing jobs every 2-3 years to make salary gains. I have not received a "raise" while working anywhere in the past 10 years that was decent enough to make me want to stay. I change jobs every 2-3 years and significantly increase my salary with each move in general.
If companies do not value their employees, you can't expect them to stay or work hard. There is no ladder to climb at most companies anymore.

If you want someone to go above and beyond then why not pay them more?

Or... OR just learn to be efficient at your job. I wrote scripts that do much of my job for me. I probably only work 2 hours a day, 5 days a week, and I make $172k/yr.
