Like all things, Any Forums evolved. Back in the 00's and early 10's, our powers were physical, finite. We could summon ten thousand trolls to mess with the world in the most acute ways, but it all had no real direction other than 'generate ragebait and laugh at normies'. I'm not saying that was a bad thing! It was perfectly acceptable.
But now, Any Forums is a more subtle, mental influence on the world. The gap between chanspace and normiespace has never been smaller, and we have the dominant meta-culture of zoomers ("meme culture", in a broad sense) by the balls. Memes like 'wojak', 'chad', 'normie', 'npc', how common have those become? And that's just recent ones, think back to 'over 9000', 'rickrolling', and perhaps the greatest example of all time, Pepe the Frog.
There will be new groups and such that will be physical, and evolve in due time as well. The cycle always repeats. But don't be fooled, Any Forums is more influential on the world than ever. The effect has only transmuted.
