I just want to watch anime without subtitles, read manga as I do with English and search for some obscure manga or anime from time to time. That's it. Will I get bored or there are some other reasons to keep going?
I don't plan to work or live there, just visiting once I'm fluent enough and keep visiting if I like it.

Unironically, I had a friend of Japan, she was from Fukushima, and teach me some words, It Ni San Xi Go Ro Hai Djiu Kyo Dju, not know what is wrong btw

I feel like there has to be some distinction between knowing Japanese and appreciating what its culture has to offer and just being a weeb who likes fetish porn and anime. Japan has normies just like anywhere else.

>Is Japanese worth learning? No foreign language is worth learning unless you have a concrete plan to live or work there. For personal use, google translate is already 70% there, and in 10 years you'll be able to point your phone at any text or audio and it will translate it perfectly for you. So the only thing you're going to end up with is a mult-years long journey to memorize kanji that won't help you in your daily life at all. Even if you persevered to the end and managed to learn enough to fluently read manga and watch anime without translation, is that really the best use of your time?
>oh no! this one tiddie comic was dropped by the scanlation group! how will I ever find out if the MC gets to add more girls to his harem??? >time to spend years and years memorizing chinese characters!
