The original had episodes where they would go to random planets that were ancient civilizations and teach them how to be better people. Pretty sure there was at least one episode where they fought Nazis. The main characters are Jewish actors and they broke new ground with a black woman on the crew. No, it's not, it's just a samurai helmet. Those were common for centuries before the Germans came up with the Stalhelm, which was in WW1. Google "samurai helmet" and you will see dozens of Darth Vaders.

Their uniforms are based on WW2 Imperial Japanese uniforms. They look nothing like Nazi uniforms. Those foldy hats they wear are straight Imperial Army hats. Google "japanese imperial army hats"
Lucas has only spent like 50 years explaining this. The OT are based on Kurosawa flicks set in Imperial Japan, hence the Empire and Emperor and the samurai duels with swords and everyone' on Tattooine wears traditional Japanese clothes. Also they're the Americans in Vietnam with the overwhelming reliance on mass firepower and technology versus a technologically-inferior rebel group. It's the sequels that tried to do Le Space Nazis with the First Order.
