The problem is the cost of college not the loans. I wouldn't have a problem canceling the debt (they hand over trillions to wall street so I'm more open to this now) HOWEVER it would have to include regulations on how much these predatory universities are allowed to charge. You can't just cancel the debt and do nothing about the costs. People will just take out more/larger loans. Most of these schools need to fire like 3/4 of their admin staff.

2. Since the gov guarantees the loan they count the interest towards GDP. So they didn't just cancel the debt they canceled their own income. The interest plays a huge part for our national budget.
