Some great power is purchasing the precious metals under the radar in preparation of the US Dollar losing global world reserve currency status. My guess is its China as its the only monetary union capable of supporting a global reserve currency, unlike the EU which is indeed a monetary union but lacks the requisite fiscal union to be a viable reserve currency candidate.

This is a worrying trend. I've been in the PM game since 2009 and it was only last year I started seeing 10oz bars sealed in plastic.
Even more worrying is the dearth of metal in the display case at my LCS.
Maybe they're being extra paranoid but nowadays there's next to nothing on display and whatever you do buy comes wrapped in plastic.
