the problem is the misplaced value on a loan in relation to a degree. memes aside about worthless degrees and gender studies, getting a degree is a skill point (omg gamer reference) that gets spent one time in someones life and then is forgotten. having a degree doesnt accumulate wages, promotion, power, or prestige. once you use it to get that dream job, in practicality, thats it. the degree did its part and now its up to you to excel and succeed in that career. and now you have 80,000 in debt so in those quiet moments at the office working late to meet a deadline or lying in bed waiting for your alarm to go off, you realize that 80,000 in debt overrules whatever the degree did for you. if the degree could earn power and prestige over time as a loan earns interest, then maybe we'd be getting somewhere, but you cant add to a degree, socket gems to it, enchant it, or bless it. any boost goes to you base don how hard, well, competently, or diligently you work in the career that degree helped you get., but thats all the degree did. it helped you get a job, then it fades away
