Why didn’t Russia just capture Kiev? It’s like 10 miles from the border and Russia is the 2nd most powerful military in the world

Too easy, wouldn't be that glorious
It's a 2 part answer ...
They couldn't slowly drain the west if they won in 2 weeks
Who would have to rebuild if they glassed the whole country ?
They should have at least just kalibrated that hohol kikes offices to show he had fled the country.
Why did the Red Army liberate half of Europe in the time Russia has been faffing around in Ukraine?
Wasn’t the battle of Berlin pretty glorious, why not do that with Kiev or Kharkov or Nikolaev or Odessa or literally any city that actually matters
Maybe capturing a big town like Slavyansk would bring glory, just anything besides wheat fields and empty hamlets would be cool
Capturing Kiev would've been bad for optics and ruined the negotiations with our respected Ukrainian partners.
Pls understand.

>Kiev remains unwilling to implement the Istanbul agreements, although the parties practically reached an agreement at the talks in late March, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday
>The result of any negotiations depends on the willingness of the parties to implement the agreements reached: "Today we see that the Kiev authorities have no such willingness"
>At the talks in Istanbul in late March, Moscow and Kiev "practically reached an agreement; and all that was left was to have in implemented officially" but "after the withdrawal of Russian troops from central regions of Ukraine, the Kiev authorities refused to implement the agreements"
>they couldn’t slowly drain the west
All Putin is doing is giving Europe time to get off Russian gas and America time to speed up weapon production
If Russia captured Ukraine in a month and used it to benefit its own economy, that would be impressive, but no
Also, Russia completely flattened Mariupol and lysichansk, let’s not pretend like Putin cares about repairing cities
growing up I used to think Russia was a military superpower. But nowadays I feel stupid for ever thinking that. I'm pretty sure Japan can utterly destroy the Russia army in a war.
Everything's going according to plan
Cause it would need like 800k to 1 milion soldiers to do that. It s a big city
russian army is shit and lies
like chink army they exist only in the paper
pic related are the 10 most populated cities in Ukraine (before the 2022 invasion). Ukraine controls 8/10 of those cities. While Russia controls 2/10 (Donetsk & Sevastopol). But to be fair the 11th most populated city is Mariupol and the 12th is Luhansk. Both of which are under Russian control.
It is worth noting that Russian troops are within less than 100 km from Kharkiv (Ukraine's 2nd largest city). and the same is true for Ukraine's 9th largest city, Mykolaiv. But it is also worth noting that Russia was this close to Kharkiv basically since the war began and they are yet to capture it.
whats more important is killing off all the Ukrainian Soldiers.
Killing them on the fields on the eastern front and luring them out in the open is easier than fighting urban combat in every city.
So it makes more sense to have Kiev send the men coordinated into their doom, if you'd just off the head you create an insurgency for decades.
So once all the Ukrainian Men are culled enough, the Russians will simply walk in and take over.
So they bum rushed in and ukraine flees at full speed to turtle up in Kiev or go towards poland. Then the russians pull back and cakewalk into the port cities.
>aye why dont you come attack this fortified position of little value compared to southern ports
doesnt matter how many weapons it provides if there are no more men willing to fight left in the country.
putin is just avoiding the same mistake americans made in iraq.
if you flatten and take over the whole country in a week, you only take out the front line soldiers while everyone else retreats and regroups and does a heckin' insurgency..
by doing a slow burn, he's forcing zelensky to send wave after wave of men to die on a traditional battlefield where the russians have an advantage. With the women gone and fighting aged men wiped out, there cannot be an insurgency.
half the weapons the west is providing is being sold off anyway. ukrainians dont give a fuck. They get issued a javelin, instead of using it they sell it off to a broker who sends it to syria or iran, then soldiers take the cash and bribe their way to poland or elsewhere.
You use that blank paper as your battle flag.
>putin is just avoiding the same mistake americans made in iraq
Wining?
>hur dur, let’s kill the male population of the largest country in Europe. We will then occupy it with our already demographic crisis ridden country and have hundreds of ghost towns and half empty cities after all the women flee to Europe and America for bbc and nafricock
Genius!
Russia literally doesn’t even control half of the Ukrainian coast and it took Russia 3 months and hundreds of dead troops just to take Mariupol
The only city Russia successfully “ walked into “ was Kherson, and that happened on like the second day of the invasion so the “ muh Kiev feint “ was irrelevant to that
War is Peace
The war, therefore, if we judge it by the standards of previous wars, is merely an imposture. It is like the battles between certain ruminant animals whose horns are set at such an angle that they are incapable of hurting one another. But though it is unreal it is not meaningless. It eats up the surplus of consumable goods, and it helps to preserve the special mental atmosphere that a hierarchical society needs. War, it will be seen, is now a purely internal affair. In the past, the ruling groups of all countries, although they might recognize their common interest and therefore limit the destructiveness of war, did fight against one another, and the victor always plundered the vanquished. In our own day they are not fighting against one another at all. The war is waged by each ruling group against its own subjects, and the object of the war is not to make or prevent conquests of territory, but to keep the structure of society intact.

there are still many woman in the country and with all the culled ukrainian men there is a lack of men. Russian soldiers will repopulate Ukraine because after a war a babyboom follows.
>and have hundreds of ghost towns and half empty cities
they need to be demolished anyway so the valuable resources can be extracted on a large scale. Eastern Ukraine has everything the world needs buried in the ground. gas, oil, coal and all kinds of other raw materials that are extremely valuable.
