this composite is not well done. the negatives were not perfectly aligned to frame, so the different footages (foreground + background explosion) shake differently and you can see the disconnect. Also you can see that the grain and color of the film used for the foreground and background are different. not a good job.

the russian visual effects are not as good as the americans, but they are nice except the last matte paintings, because they are missing the shadow of the explosion and they are leaving the hilights in the shadows. big mistake! Also, they were a little overdrive with the colors. 5/10

another mistake can be seen in this video. you can see the black halos around the explosion composite. You don't get such dark colors in film or reality when you have such heat that close. I have to say that doing this with analog film is very impressive. smart using the sunset as background plate. this gets a 7/10

that is not chain reaction. in nuclear reactors nuclear fuel is stopped by rods of material such as silver which absorbs radiation without decaying. The radiactive fuel is just not achieving complete potential. it will just melt itself if it happens, and could explode a water container because of heat creating a hydrogen explosion and expanding radiactive debris.

that one is pretty easy, you are right, how come a shock wave passes enough to demolish every structure down to bare earth but whatever they have the camera in doesnt even shake and is not obliterated. Definitely poses some questions.
