Why is it so taboo for males to wear briefs?

Well at least back to the 90s when I was younger, briefs were viewed as little boy underwear for some reason. They were nicknamed tighty whiteys. If you did not want to come across as an immature little boy, you had to wear boxer shorts for underwear. You had to let your junk swang, not be cooped up. This was just commonly agreed upon among preteen and teen boys at the time. Later, somebody invented boxer briefs. Which is kinda the best of both worlds. But I still looked at those as bad too because they don't really allow any swang either. One summer, back in like '13 or something, I was having issues with chafing on the inside of my thighs. For years I had dealt with this by applying gold bond body powder to the area. But that year I had a new girlfriend, and she said it is probably because I wear boxers that let my thighs rub together sometimes and I should try boxer briefs instead. She was 100% right, and I have worn those since then.

I wear briefs. Boxers are just too much fabric under the pants, and boxer briefs turn into stretched out saggy boxers by the end of the day. Briefs hold everything in place all day.

I was kinda fat around that time. Maybe 28-29ish bmi, and I continued getting even fatter for a while, dating that girl. But now I am back down to more like 23.
