Why doesn't anyone REE about the way Italians are portrayed?

because the sopranos were made by an italian, and italians portray themselves how they want. There is not a single thing that could offend an italian, speaking racist wise, because they know how important and sucessful they are. There is no insecurity about food or wealth, culture or intelligence, and italians by and large make a good name for themselves by staying close to family and out of trouble. When there is trouble, they treat it with respect in a way that makes the mob able to be idolized. At least when they kill someone they keep their hands clean, and it was for a good reason.

All this is why the sopranos are popular. In america, its impossible to be racist towards any type of white people because of how we live our lives

Ethnicities are encouraged to belittle and niggerize themselves once they come here because your heritage in america is treated as an unimportant trait. All the Italians I've met were upstanding and respectable instead of degenerate criminal types.

Yes, it's probably from them being family-oriented and them living in concentrated ethnic neighborhoods. Anglo-descended people who have been in the US for a long time seem much more willing to move alone to random parts of the country for economic reasons, and that fragments them.

Italians are some of the last ethnic groups in this country it’s still considered politically correct to be able to tease and make jokes about. It’s largely due to the fact that as far as America goes they’re not seen as oppressed in the same way other ethnic groups are, so joking about them isn’t really considered punching down. They’ve been here so long and been so successful that making fun of cultural stereotypes about them hurts about as much as making jokes about British food. If it was more widely understood that they were somehow victims of a longstanding or particularly abusive form of oppression, jokes about them would ring differently in the ears of most Americans. It’s similar to how it’s still socially acceptable to make fun of Irish or Polish people. Because they’re largely understood to be doing relatively well it’s not considered punching down, and because the intent and effect is largely not malicious
