Even if you don't drink the tap, if you take baths/showers (esp. hot ones), you're getting a decent dose of it through your skin. Modern farming depends on NPK (nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium) fertilizer. The minerals this is extracted from are high in fluoride compounds. Even after refining, it's still approx. 1% fluoride by weight, and it is applied to the fields year after year after year. I sometimes wonder if part of the ill health of vegans is fluoride poisoning. Fluoride demineralizes bone & suppress thyroid function. There is also some causal evidence of fluoride causing significant IQ reduction when ingested during the developmental years.
Daily reminder that Israel still does not fluoridate their water.

Nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium ARE minerals.
And the poor health of vegans is due to nutrient deficiencies, especially essential fats (called essential for a reason) and cholesterol (which isn't even bad for you). Look at what happens when you go vegan: >youtube.com/watch?v=pN4LT_f86AU
>Nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium ARE minerals. no nigger. they are elements. minerals are the rocks they are harvested from. these rocks also contain high amounts of fluoride--some which is removed, but not all.

roughly coincides with the introduction of mineral fertilizers
Actually it comes from eating harder food, as in physically tougher to chew, from age 3 to 10. This is the age in which your jaw forms, and your jaw muscles help shape it. The harder the food, the bigger the jaw muscles. If you eat soft food during this time, the jaw will be thinner and shorter. This will result in less space for teeth.
Also ironically for waiting to go to a dentist when a kids tooth wiggles. Parents should pull that shit immediately, otherwise the permanent toith below will grow crooked.

soft food doesn't explain iq loss & thyroid suppression, & we didn't immediately switch to soft food 150-200 yrs ago:
