Would a giga-supercarrier with 1 million tons make sense?

The largest carriers are Ford class carriers with 100,000 tons and 70+ planes. 1 million tons could station 500+ planes there including strategic bombers. Such an aircraft carrier could be swimming around to kill the whole world.

I don’t even think the government has the funds to even think about a project that rn bud

It would be a massive crew, which mean replenishments at sea would take 10x as long. You'd have to be constantly sending ships out to send over supplies and jet fuel.

Carrier are outdated technology.
All it takes is 1 hypersonic missile to sink it and there is no defense against it.

How are mobile military airbases outdated? That's what a carrier is, an entire military base that can travel around in the water, powered by two nuclear reactors, has full medical facilities, can house thousands of extra troops plus a full ship's crew and airwing and can create their own potable water.

It only takes 1 hypersonic missile to sink it.

The hypersonic missile would have to hit it first.

Just build a fucking floating city retard
The state is here to serve us, not the other way around

Luckily for the missiles those ships are large targets

Its a big slow moving target and Hypersonic missiles can easily hit it.
They are precision weapons.

How many carriers have been sunk by hypersonic missiles so far

What a retarded question.
If that ship is staffed with low IQ retards like you the chances for survival are 0.

Beyond retarded.

>muh hypersonics
wait until he learns that the countries that deploy them only have a handful and they're ridiculously expensive

what a complete stupid waste of money that shit can be
never used in any fight
ever
don't do anything but cost money
break all the time
look like a fat whale
is now commanded by a fat whale
fuck aircraft carriers

Shh Albert, are you dreaming again about big useless things?

Still cheaper than that carrier it would sink and they probably have more than enough to sink every carrier more than twice.

Not outdated, just no longer the primary focus of naval firepower at Sea. Carriers replaces battleships as the primary means of firepower, when aviation technology improved by leaps and bound. Now improved missiles accuracy and range, it is taking over as the primary means of engagement. As it is simply an unmanned one time use aircrafts with a bomb. No need for expensive pilot training.

Aircraft carrier will still have their use as air superiority and surveillance platforms, most likely moving into unmanned drone carriers in the future.

someone should make a meme the virgin aircraft carrier VS the chat hyper sonic missile

They are outdated and useless.
Your copes wont make them useful.
Its like saying Battleships arent outdated because you found some retarded usecase for it

tactically you're 100% correct. strategically, though, having a way to transport a military invasion force through international waters to bully weaker nations is literally how america has achieved and maintained their empire in the past 70 years

Where would you dock it or build it? There are only a few ports that even handle, Nimitz and Ford Class

>chad*

1 nuke vs 10000 man ship lol

And as soon as the weaker nations get their export variant of the Hypersonic missile the carrier becomes useless.

>It only takes 1 hypersonic missile to sink it.
Carriers will be used on countries who don't have them. If say China hypersonic'd a US carrier it would be the same as them nuking a major US city. I.E. declaration of total nuclear war. In other words, not gonna happen.

Technically, that's better than 1 nuke vs 10,000 man base + the 3 cities surrounding it.
>all these international posts coping with the fact that the us carries the world in carrier technology

Dumb nigger, Hypersonics remove MAD.
You get first striked and destroyed before you can even react.

>unironically believing there will be unmanned warships in the future
What kind of institution would support that?

pykrete is stupid cheap
