Everything else is either too expensive or a piece of shit.
Why didn't we simply upgrade the F-15 with stealth technology?

>F-15
literally undefeated in combat.
>Boeing
Exactly, you can blow a wing off and it seems to still work OK even.
The F-15 is old as shit, and no one has the machinery or knowledge to make new parts for it. Might as well do something new.
>You will never be a fighter pilot
If Boeing didn't get the f35 contract, they would've just made the silent eagle as expensive as the f35. The MIC has enough legislators in their pocket to always have a boondoggle project.
That's what the F-22 is, the new F15. But the new F-16+18, the F-35, is a hunk of crap.
Because that would be an excellent idea and the US government is retarded.
They'd have to entirely redesign it. The F-15EX is an updated version but it appears to be close to dead in the water as well.
Do you have an actual reason why you say that, or are you just unhappy with the price?
It wouldn't work on the F-15 because of it's shape.
Yes.
no it is not a "hunk of crap". tell me, what other stealth fighters do we have that can operate from aircraft carriers? I'll give you a minute.
Boeing didn't get the F35, it was Lockheed Martin. Boeing submitted the F32 as their JSF candidate
There are degrees of stealth you know. F-22 beats the F-35 because of the engine configuration, among other things. Some planes are just not even stealthy at all but have special radars and things which don't show up on normal radar detectors.
>it's good because it's the only thing going
see?
Every weapon system blows for it's first decade or so of service. Not saying the MIC isn't corrupt as shit here, but it's just that new gear sucking ass is the norm.
because can no upgrade airframe
f-22 is airframe upgrade.
why don’t you simply pull your head out of your ass?
If the fighters need stealth to survive an approach to their targets, the carriers will be blown out of the water before they get within range of the targets.
You don't need stealth to bomb goat-herders, and just about everyone else has access to carrier-killer missiles these days.
Not saying not to make the F-22, but to keep the F-15 around in upgraded form. Could be good and also hot on the export market for geopolitical purposes.
>F32
which was a MUCH better choice. Fuck the F-35 and its fanboys.
to have stealth technology you need to change the shape of the plane and use special materials, both of which will turn the f-15 into something that isn't an f-15. Stealth, as far as I know, works mostly through computerized control of the airplane, allowing for greater aerodynamic stability, which helps keep the plane stable DESPITE the unusual shape which is necessary to make the radar signature smaller. And to do that stuff you need a lot of research, expensive materials, etc.
wrong again. the issue is that we politicized the manufacturing process so that 45/50 U.S. states contribute to the aircraft. It is a capable stealth multirole platform. carrier based stealth fighter is very useful.

OP, what exactly is this "Stealth Technology" you speak of?!?
Is it a firmware update?
Is it a Flash Drive that you plug in?
Are you some normie Reddit Cuck, who collects funko pops?
Do you belong to the Religion that sucks off Elon Musk?
"Stealth Technology" is mostly the shape of the aircraft
and "Stealth Technology" is pretty much obsolete
so would you say my post is accurate?
>Could be hot on the export market for geopolitical purposes.
You're misinformed. The F-15 has been getting upgrades constantly since the E for this exact reason. There's eagles all over the world and the EX came out just a few years ago.
3 main reasons
1.The aerodynamics wouldn't allow for stealth plating. You'd be sacrificing maneuverability and engine efficiency for a less effective level of stealth. If you see a flying stealth bomber from underneath, it's lust one long convex wing, all the protrusions are on the top of this wing.
2.Those bombers also fly very high, so radar has a harder time returning deflected radio waves. Fighter jets travel much closer to the ground making the job of radar much easier.
3. Fighter jets travel so fast that detecting them isn't really much of an advantage. You can scramble your own fighters, but if you only have 3 minutes to do so, they aren't getting off the tarmac. rerouted jets on exercises would be part way through a fuel tank or not fully armed. fighter jets also stay low on purpose to avoid radar detection
>"Stealth Technology" is pretty much obsolete
Why do you say that?
So the goat-herders are destroying our carriers at sea? CIWS have made advancements in recent years that may eliminate anti ship missiles. there are avionics improvements as well as other advancements with the radar. The f22 is meant to excel at air superiority only which causes it to be less adequate in others. Greater innovations have been made in aviation but the f35 is not a hunk of crap. It sports a 20:1 kdr against 4th gen fighters.
pretty obvious that missiles are the way to go. the airplane is dead.
Be American Fighter Jet pilot
Fly F-35 (listening to Danger Zone)
Fly over Russian air space
They see a radar signature the size of a ping pong ball
The ping pong ball is traveling 700+ miles per hour
The Computerized Radar array sets off the Faggot Alarm
Natalia Poklonskaya shoots a radar guided missile at the ping pong ball
The propulsion system will NEVER let the F35 be anything than a loud as fuck Jet. I can hear them over my house and I'm literally 20 miles away from their flight plans. Fucking pathetic. The sad thing is Boeing DID have a stealth jet that was more compact than the 35 but they lost some kiked out contest
>simply upgrade the F-15
why save money upgrading the most dominant fighter of all time when you can waste trillions on R&D, and production costs, and production cost overruns for new fighters that cost 10 more than what was promised?
Its about stealing the wealth of a nation.
This is accurate af
This Democrat Homosexual is 1000% spot on
Because oligarchs need more money from new government contracts
The Defense Acquisition System. It's a very flawed, expensive, time-consuming overcomplicated problem. Naturally it produces very flawed, expensive, overcomplicated products (at a glacial pace).
Unfortunately the brass and contractors wouldn't have it any other way.
Multi Static Radar, for one. Stealth is a waste of money.
