Maybe I'm fuzzy on my history here, but didn't the French offer to help us simply because they hated the British, who kind of took their title, so much? I thought France was top dog then Britain moved ahead, and when Britain was trying to expand their empire in North America the French saw an opportunity to both fuck them over and stop their expansion. Arguably with France's foothold in Canada, like Quebecois, and the South East US I would assume it actually allowed France to expand where Britain had to fuck off and go home.

Jan 6. was people rioting for one day at one location which actually was related to the issue they were upset about. Only one person died that day, and it was a rioter, and relatively there was very minimal damage. Then you compare that to BLM which was daily riots for 6 months straight which had dozens of murders and billions of property damage, but that wasn't domestic terrorism at all while celebrities, MSM, and the fucking CDC during a pandemic were like "do what you gotta do; for some reason beaches are super spreader events but not this". When it comes to guns they always act like "you're not gonna do anything with your little guns, because the military would just wipe you off the map", but when it comes to Jan 6 all the sudden a couple hundred mostly unarmed people constituted a violent insurrection that almost succeeded. Whichever way the fucking wind blows I guess.
