If the People's Republic of China wants to unify with Taiwan, why not simply impose a military blockade against the island until the taiwanese surrender and accept Taiwan's annexation to the People's Republic of China?
If Taiwan tries to attack the chinese army and break the chinese military blockade, the chinese army can easily fight back, neutralize the taiwanese attack and occupy the island of Taiwan in a week or less.
There is no doubt that the army of the People's Republic of China is infinitely larger, more advanced and superior than the army of Taiwan.
