They are closest to the Western group of Anatolian Neolithic farmers of Europe, who have much higher Western Hunter Gatherer like DNA and cluster very far away from the modern middle east. The closest relatives to the original ancient Romans and Etruscans are Spaniards. Just remember this whenever you hear someone say Spanish people are moors or Arabs - outside Andalusia, they're really not.

Both wrong. Basques are genetically at the top of the Spanish cluster and possess R1b male lineages despite speaking a Non-IE language. Basques are basically just pure spaniards. They all cluster together aside from a minority of Andalusian people. Maybe modern immigration has changed things, but thats what the DNA shows
