If you’re an establishment administration, when Kissinger gives advice, you listen.
Why do we have to defend some gook island?
Kissinger needs to fucking die already. I swear, he only lives to spite ppl
My question is why now? Seriously why not the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s but literally right after pulling out from the Middle East & the Ukrainian Conflict still happening (you guys are supplying billions into Eastern Europe)
Why Taiwan now??? China has no chances taking it with a land invasion. Logistically suicide for them. I can’t understand why America is in such a rush. Is this flexing just because elections are ramping up 2024? No bullshit buzzwords reply plz
leddit gold and updoods.
Spasibo Ivan, I see
Because they're trying to provoke a war. They started with that "coup"(CIA made coup) in Ukraine which put Zelensky in power. They forced Russia to step up, they probably wanted Russia to do something more than just support Donbass from the shadows so they must've dome something again to trigger the February invasion, probably some shady shit only world leaders know about. So Russia then invaded, probably as planned by the west, which justified all these hardcore sanctions and supplying Ukraine with weapons and basically having this proxy war. I think they want to go all the way.
It could also be that they want this war for the sake of Israel because this forced Russia to tone it down in Syria. Maybe they're trying to assure mutual destruction for the east and west so that Israel becomes the world superpower. I dunno, either way I really think they're pushing for a full blown war.
wrong.
US desperately tries to economically and technically isolate china.
Instead of competing they're basically saying "it's we or them", check out that chip act biden signed recently, there was another one in "lmao inflation reduction" for EV car batteries.
With the pressure on taiwan issue they're basically trying to do the same, they don't want for the china to become one.
Overall this is all too late and it's not going to end well, in my opinion.
I hope I'm wrong, if the strongest power in the world is pushing the 2nd and 3rd strongest powers to go to war with the US it would be Armageddon.
>check out that chip act biden signed recently
How much will the chips cost compared to chink chips?
Dude like... china can destroy from the beach to the other beach before landing
Act gives government subsidiaries for building in US, but the money is actually really small compared to what you need to spend.
US also tries to create alliance KR-TW-JP to isolate china in chip production, but all these countries heavily depend on China in manufacturing.
It's going to be economical war with taiwan isolation most likely.
That means bad times ahead of us, consumers.
They can rain missiles but they can't risk a land invasion and get bogged down by who knows how many guerrilla forces, it would be a logistic disaster. Especially since China isn't a maritime power compared to the US.
Risk too high to do anything to Taiwan rn imo. You can't sanction them effectively either since they are literally the factories of the world. It'll cause such an economical upheave world wide
Are you saying if we need to upgrade our computers, the time is now?
How the fuck is this guy still alive?
Functionally every country on earth that isnt Taiwan or South Korea has nothing bleeding-edge for semiconductor foundries. US has some, thanks to Intel, with more coming online someday. AMDs old castoff foundry is Global Foundries, they gave up the race to shrink transistors at 12nm but can still make competent stuff.
Putting most of our eggs into two countries bordered by enemies was the most BOOMER thing I can concieve of, its not like oil, these are the most complex factories in human history and you OFFSHORE THEM?
And that rings true for everyone really, russian fabs are coming along but have a long way to go, they have some neat inhouse designs for chips at least.
1. China needs to divert internal discontent towards outsiders. This is why Chinese nationalism started with Xi Jin Ping.
Before then, they were relatively cooperative. They worked quite hard to improve their image. Investments here and there, international events like world expo, and olympics, etc.
2. Obama adminstration failed to make the Chinese cooperate with the US. The CCP wasn't so keen on listening to him and his successors. They were already not content with all the human right and environmental policies the US was forcing upon everyone else. And the Chinese economic power was on the rise. The US was stagnant with protracted wars and Lehman brothers crisis.
>So why now?
It is a Chinese bid for world supremacy and end of Pax Americana.
Taiwan has always been considered a Chinese land by the CCP, but it stayed independent all because of American support.
With China growing stronger than over, it just kinda is "you can't tell me what to do your rules are bs"
There are also strategic reasons. Taiwan is in the perfect spot along with Japan to blockade China's coastal cities.
There might not be a war, but a naval standoff.
And currently the US has the edge. Taking over Taiwan is vital if China were to win this kind of cold war.
My guess is that it's one of those founding spirits of EC: "Economic cooperation will prevent wars"
Except it's downright a monopoly that it's even more polarized.
