If you use 90's, keep the horizontal run short and make sure you get at least a 1/4" per foot rise on the horizontal section, and have a lot more vertical than horizontal to maintain the stack effect.

Its also the heat differential between interior and exterior stack. Our stack is totally vertical and about 18 feet. Any shorter and we would not get proper draw especially in changing wind conditions.
