Are towns like this common in Burgerland?

not in Texas, idk about the midwest.

My family was from there. Old family to the region, brought in closer for the work in the steel mills. You all should see the photos, it was beautiful. My father told me it was our fault as whites.

Apparently we got greedy and divided the white vote too much one year, and so Mayor Thatcher got in (first negro, civil rights credentials and the like). It was all downhill from there.

Blacks could do no wrong, whites were just expected to take it to make up for past "wrongs". Turned a beautiful city into a shithole overnight.

In the rust belt. Places like Gary were abandoned after the manufacturing jobs left

Yes, especially when the reason for the town's existence disappeared. They bleed population and crumble.
It isn't like England where even if a town had hard times people would have to stay because there simply wasn't any space already claimed to spread out to.
Americans had the option of leaving in most cases so instead of having towns go through maturity and phases they would just die when their purpose was no longer useful.

Has there been cases where they've been repopulated for whatever reason? Coming from a densely populated country, it's strange to see ghost towns like that.

Weird how it started declining after all the niggers moved there and elected a nigger mayor.

All over the midwest pretty much. This town was built by a steel company owner for the purpose of making steel. Those jobs left the country, partially due to corporate mismanagement of funds (wild speculation instead of improving facilities that were using old technology) and partially due to government promoting free trade. As those key jobs in production left, the other ones that serviced those workers, retail stores, restaurants, etc. failed and that just had a domino effect where everyone leaves because there is no money to be made. Gary in particular had a lot of niggers though so all of those things tied together for the perfect disaster.

Honestly, I'd rather live in an abandoned part of the city than a populated part.

The riots didn't help of course but I thought Gary in particular was a steel town that basically lost its industry

Supposedly, yes but it can't just be forced.
The work from home movement with covid and high rents pushed out a lot of people of all income levels and skill sets from the biggest cities, and into smaller towns, but the thing is that America is so spacious still that they would rather ruin even more nature by just going to live in brand newly developed planned communities rather than revitalize an old town that looks bad.

I am actually from a small town. It had 2000 people when I was a kid, I think it has about 800~ now.
There's no jobs because there are less self reliant people and starting a small business has way more hurdles than it did when these small towns boomed.
No young people would want to deal with this we all leave at age 18 for more excitement and opportunity.

It did lose its industry because other parts of the world were using more modern methods of making steel.

Wow! What a great deal for a starter house!
