The flood from.....5 years ago or so was worse and nobody said a fucking thing about that one.
More waterfront than most other states. More average rainfall than most.
The bigger issue is the floodplains are few and fair between and those kept being backfilled for development. The mining stopped years ago, who is going to pay to maintain? The fed? heh
