China's economy is built on manufacturing obsolete US technologies. Silicon is still around because of planned obsolescence. They haven't advanced any tech the US has sent them.

There is a lot of talk on YT that China's housing crisis is reaching a critical level. I think that has Beijings attention.

They have 1.4 billion and their financial bar for middle class is much lower than western nations. They are also having major banking issues directly impacting the middle class. You underestimate how strong Chinese army and industry is from just the size of it's population. USSR had just a bit over 2 times the population of Germany in WW2 and it was enough to humanwave them into oblivion. China is 5 times bigger than USA and more then 10 times bigger than anyone else. Russia doesn't do consumer goods. Russia has high tech, but it's mostly commercial products/services and energy products/services. Consumer goods require significant propaganda to sell the brand. Chinese Navy actually has more modern ships than the US, the bulk of the US Navy are old 40yr+ old ship that need to decommission.
Just compare Type 055 vs Tico and Type 052D vs burke.
Chinese ships has dual band ASAR radar while the US ship still US the old SPY-1 S band radar.
Chinese ships has ASBM that out range carriers while the US still use the subsonic cruise missiles.
