4 Million people in Taiwan identity as Japanese. Many more are of Aboriginal/Japanese blood. There are actual few main land chinese people in Taiwan. Taiwan was a Japanese colony. Ive never met a Taiwanese person who identifies as Chinese.

No. Absolutely not. If you by that logic Swedes are basically Germans, Mexicans are Guatemalans, and Ukrainians are actually Russians. Plus if you had ever actually eaten Taiwanese food, you’d know right away how far they are from the Japanese. And let’s not forget Taiwanese technology. AFAIK all taiwan actually makes are subpar electronics and bicycle parts that fail more often than they should. Say that about the Japanese. I have a Japanese Pentax camera that’s almost 50 years old and not only can it still take great pictures, albeit film, but if I needed to I can use it to hammer in nails and it would STILL work just as great after.
