People were saying that fertilizer prices will plateau because most fertilizer is made locally, that's only true with bosch process nitrogen, they still need the other components which are quite dense and come from quarries often very far from farms.
Biodynamic farms are going to make a killing because they don't use external fertilizer inputs, instead everything you need for the complete agricultural cycle is made on the farm.

Many nitrogen fertilizers are either produced directly in Russia or require energies that previously often come from Russia.
The sanctions do relatively little damage to Russia, little to none to the US, but will do massive damage to Europe and especially Germany. The European sheeple west of the Ukraine are again more closely tied to the US via NATO and are willing to spend special funds on armaments expenditures. As with the Wu-Flu, China will emerge as the clear economic winner. And that seems to me to be intentional. Sanctions often have a boomerang effect, as can now be seen in the example of the energy market and its record prices. Europe can probably not do without energy from Russia completely at the moment: It has negligently become dependent on Russia, also for wheat. Biden is therefore trying to increase supply on the American market, at least for his country, by wanting to do business again with Venezuela, of all things, the country with which the US severed relations three years ago.
You also need Diesel fuel to extract a certain type of fertilizer, so good luck with that. The price of nitrogen fertilizer is directly linked to oil and gas prices. If less fertilizer is produced due to the current situation and agriculture can no longer afford some of it, this will inevitably lead to falling yields in the following year, in addition to the areas that may remain uncultivated due to the war. The farmers in Brazil have already agreed to cut back production significantly due to the extreme fertilizer prices. Soon we will no longer receive animal feed, soya, etc.
The crisis could intensify again in 2023. My dad has been working in the fertilizer trade for 25 years and has never seen such prices, they have been increasing for a few years. It's going to get worse, that's for sure. Reduced food production will be a disaster for the 3rd world. I can imagine the drop in yields is then being blamed on climate change. This clown world deserves to burn.
