For the money you'd be better off buying an AR-15 (like a S&W or a Stag Arms), as they would give equal performance out of the box. The problem is that in Norway you need to jump through hoops for years in order to buy one, whereas with the Mini-14 you can technically get it after a week and start modding to your heart's content.

Why is 7.62x39 a bad round? I think it is a great round out to about 300-350 meters. The effect on target is good. it performs very well out of short barrels too.

The only thing chinky about it is the trigger is cheap plastic. The gun itself is solid and I don't see any observable wear on it. And if it were actually a concern, the circumstances that would require me to grab it over my pistol mean shits fucked anyway.

-was supposed to be able to be made on existing tooling, but that was a lie
-full power cartridge that was obsolete 10 years before it was designed.

*can be accurate, but with added weight to the already bloated platform, cannot withstand rough handling, bedding has to be serviced often, can only be repaired or serviced by a very skilled armorer.

Sad, but true. Even I have no trouble recognizing the superiority of the 6.5mm round. Heck, we've used 6.5×55mm Swedish over here for a long time. Straighter projectile travel, higher velocity, less strain on the barrel.
