Both are, in terms of force structure, standards, that kind of thing very NATO compliant. Equipment wise they both operate a lot of US equipment, but also have a lot of their own home grown stuff (especially Sweden). Finland still has a fair bit of Russia equipment left over though.

Do you play warhammer? Most people say that Russians are orcs, and in a tech sense it is true, but societal model is similar to skaven one. They're hyper individualistic, egoistic and narcissistic to a fault, and thus they will be as risk averse as possible not to hurt their own wellbeing. They don't care if the neighbor house burns; Russian will go out with the popcorns outside, and when neighbor asks for help will just laugh. When flame inevitably spreads to his house, he will act as victim and say oh my god, how could it happen? In the same way, they don't see others as people, be it their fellow citizens or neighboring countries. They see them as slaves. There is no concept of partnership in Russia, just serf/master mentality. They will accept being serfs just so they can survive one more day, and try to become master to someone else another day, so they can feel better about their miserable life.
It's completely same thing why Russians don't revolt. Historically, Russians revolted only when they had their backs against the wall - no food, no security, nothing. When people were dying in the streets. And thus, since they don't really starve right now, nothing will ever change - why risk their own lives when you can survive like a rat?
That's the thing western culture countries don't understand about that mongol horde to the east we call Russia.
