In order to pay for mankind's sins and offer salvation to all Jesus had to be free of sin. Adam committed the first sin in his disobedience and rebellion to God. So all men are born in sin, tainted by the original sin of the seed of Adam. That's why God had a virgin give birth to Jesus.
