We're in an interglacial period during an ice age, otherwise known officially as the Holocene Epoch. It's roughly 12,000 years old, every 12,000 years a magnetic excursion occurs which is currently unfolding. During interglacials it warms naturally. Heats are rising which is a fact. But we don't know if there is some periodicity to climate change on a bigger scale. We don't know what the average temperatures were 1000 years ago, or even 200 years ago. And even if we did - that wouldn't tell us much still on a grand scale of things.
