Communism might be attractive to those who grew up under such an opressive regime, because they did not know the full truth about it and once they were exposed to it, they were too old to change their worldview. Its easier for them to think that capitalism bad, than to realize that under capitalism they are responsible for their individual fate.
But its very repulsive to those who were raised after its fall and who were not subjected to the propaganda. Maybe some kids from poor families who cant afford more education than listening to their senile grandparents, instead of actual experts on history and economics, fall for the bullshit but they are a small minority.
