I'm alright with MAiD in the most extreme situations. If you're in 24/7 pain and suffering and there's 100% no chance of surviving, I think it's alright to tap out. Lately though, it's getting absurd. Our healthcare system is so overburdened that we have to coerce people to die to free up beds, while hospitals waste countless amounts of money on worthless administrative staff and bullshit like diversity & inclusion training. People are quite literally having to kill themselves for progress.

Euthanasia has an awful effect on the mental health of doctors and nurses. It makes the job much less appealing to empathetic people and it makes the job much more appealing to people okay with killing. I am a doctor and I would never want to work where euthanasia is expected of me, and I'm not even completely against it.

When it's actually necessary, it should be the patient's own responsibility to carry it out and if they're too far gone to do it themselves, then it should be the family.

Having medical staff do it will lead to hospitals being staffed exclusively by sociopaths.

It feels true in the states. When they are done with you, you get sent to hospital and rarely get out after that point. F.

My mom is an LPN and is disturbed by it and tries to convince old people that their lives have meaning. Many nurses though try to convince them to take euthanasia even when they don’t have problems. It’s fucked. If it weren’t for my mom a bunch of old folks who were sad would have roped, but she’s doing a good job out there. She gets that roping seems alright if the guy has severe pain with no hope of recovery and will die soon anyways, then they are dying on their own terms.

But the vast majority of deaths is being caused by old people not wanting to burden others. It’s indication of an insanely sick society.

My own grandfather who is in his ‘90s told me he feels worthless, so I looked him straight in the eye and said he is the most valuable given his lifetime of priceless experience and wisdom gained over that time, literally the most important person in the family. He teared up and now he’s on this crusade of imbibing all the knowledge he can into his grandchildren.

It’s a beautiful thing folks. Let your old people know they are priceless.
