I genuinely think it's because even white leftists, subconsciously see non whites as inferior to them, despite what they say on the outside.
When a non white person or country is poor, it's "aww poor them, we need to help!", or "this is clearly the fault of us whites!". They treat them like children, without even knowing it. They are exalted, it's never their fault. But when a poor white person does it, because they are "like us", so to speak, it must be their own choices. Their own fault. They did this to themselves and it's funny to laugh at them for it.
