but related to that HEY TUCKER INTERNS THAT LURK HERE i know the trump FBI raid should dominate the news cycle but if you want a little bit of variety in the lineup, talk about the SPR drawdown. the CPI report from this morning was 0 for last month but that was driven entirely by fuel prices. this admin has been since may or something releasing 1 million barrels a day and will do so straight to midterms, compromising our national security for the sake of trying to stave off the consequences of their actions from hurting their election bids bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2022-06-17/the-us-is-depleting-its-strategic-petroleum-reserve-faster-than-it-looks it is already at its lowest levels since the initial buildup and will drop even further. this admin will likely drain it to the last barrel just to buy itself approval (and even then it's paltry, gas is still way up from before). the proceeds from these sales are going to help finance spending hikes from the past two years that go to bad policies (more IRS agents to increase effective tax rate, "green" measures that are just handouts or kickbacks to favored companies, MIC spending to be wasted in ukraine, and w/e other imbecility), and refilling the SPR in the future will only be more and more expensive
this admin failed to convince saudi arabia to increase production for us (and in fact they've been increasingly buddying up with asia over us), and by provoking russia constrains supplies even more. additionally, one of the biggest purchasers of our oil has been china, so we're supplying our own foes to only enrich and protect the idiots in charge it'd make a great segment, it's factual, hits on an important issue to americans (prices), deals with the economy AND national security in one topic, reveals elite self-interest dominating america's interests, and runs counter to whatever insipid narrative the admin will be pushing on inflation
