Certain parts of Rome are glorified mainly the Christian elements it developed right before it fell, the Pax Romana golden age with gladiators and the Imperial Cult is usually shown as a place of savage brutes though even though the society was more advanced and peaceful at that time as a whole.

Because you can't know the truth so they hide it in parody and lies. Rome failed firstly because it was just like globohomo America. It rapidly expanded it's borders, used technology to dominate and engaged in mass immigration to prop itself up. It hit a point where the tax base could no longer support the empire.

The other part is Jews revenge and Constantine trying to save his dying empire by thinking he could exploit Jewish revenge. So he took Jewish Christianity and spliced and diced it with Paganism and Mithraicism during the counsel of Nicaea and created the modern hybrid religion of Christianity.
