the official story is trump had classified information at mar a lago (and he was allowed to! i don't even have to invoke classification authority there, it was cleared and secured!). some of this might have been derivative classification (extra documents he created that discussed classified matters). there are rules that allow him to keep some of that private (personal correspondence mixed within, legal counsel) trump had "15 or so" boxes he supposedly was required to turn over on handoff of his presidency. he turned over all documents he was required to last february to the national archives
however, they accused him of withholding documents secretly, and started "investigating" this. keep in mind, there is no real probable cause for such a thing other than "drumpf bad, so that's probable cause" which is bullshit. there's also no way to prove an accusation like this without tearing his place apart (like they just did). if trump does have any withheld documents, these were personal correspondences that he did not want to deposit with the archives and was within his legal right to
there is no smoking gun there. there's no hidden information that will shock the public, because there is no such thing as classified information that the government does not know. it knows the classified documents trump could have generated. it coordinated with his lawyers distinguishing personal and private correspondence. there would be no "secret deals" with putin or kim or the dalai llama because that would imply classified information the government is unaware of (nonsense) what you are seeing isn't "treason getting exposed." it's suppression of dissent, plain as day
