Natives aren't required to respect any hunting or fishing laws. They require no licenses, face no limits, and can do so outside of regulated seasons.

I have mixed feelings towards the natives. I worked a maintenance contract once on the Squamish rez, and it was pretty funny because these guys won't so much as lift a finger to change a lightbulb when the band will pay $100 to have a guy do it for them.
Every house had piles of junk in their front yard, windows with the factory plastic still on them, and the biggest model of pickup truck you could buy (latest model, sparkling clean). When you showed up at their door, it was usually a really pissed off and daydrunk guy in his underwear with a look on his face that said "get the fuck off my property".
...But then you tell them you're there to change a lightbulb or fix their breaker box, and suddenly you're their best friend in the world. "Hey, come in! It's right this way!" and they lead you through their mess of a house. You do five seconds of work and the guy acts like you're a living saint. I wound up buying a cooler to keep in my work van because no matter how small the job was, as soon as I was finished they'd run off to their fridge and grab a bunch of fresh salmon telling me to take it as a gift. Most of them spent their days just drinking or fishing, and they had more salmon than they could ever eat.

A lot of them a really nice people at their core, but between the shitty world we live in and the constant victim complex mongering from the schools and our gov't, they kind of turn to shit. Hell, if I had everything in life handed to me, I'd probably be a complete alcoholic shitbag, too.
