It’s partly because governments actively try to make themselves look better via the news outlets they own and if they fuck up it’s downplayed. They get to play the heroes that “solved” the issue in a sub-standard manner and get a roaring applause from the masses. It’s like them slapping some duct-tape on a nuclear reactor leak and pretending the solution is perfect and infallible. And that’s not even the fact that most likely they are the ones who made the fucking leak in the first place. And when the duct-tape breaks and a town is covered in radioactive goop the news outlets try to spin it as a good thing and a chance “to unite against hate” or whatever and at most they slaughter their sacrificial lamb and it’s back to business as usual.
Normies lack the reference that governments have essentially always been tyrannically and almost cartoonishly diabolical and think because the government says they are good they are the “good guys”, after all the news says the government is the good guy and the news always tells the truth.
I think it’s actually scarier how many people genuinely believe mainstream news.
