What would the life of someone with a high Crystallized Intelligence but low Fluid Intelligence look like? And vice-versa I suppose.
Would the person be academically sound with numerous qualifications and degrees yet strangely struggle with "common sense" type problems and struggle with day to day living and their occupation?
I'm worried this might be me - high Crystallized Intelligence but low as fuck Fluid intelligence
I have two degrees, one of them being law, but I can't hold down even a basic McDonald's job as I'm a slow worker and take a long time to do basic tasks. I even got booted out of army basic training of one week for being too slow to do things and unable to follow basic instructions and skills. I can't tie up a knot properly ffs. But I am reasonably book smart but I am a very slow learner and it takes me a very long time to learn new concepts and think outside the box without context.
Am I a retard?
Btw I got all of the Crystallized questions in the Pic I posted correct but got all of the Fluid ones wrong.
Do they mean most different? Least different? lmfao. Why not check every box?
Ian Lewis
My guess would be AAMM because it contains vowels unlike the others.
Nathaniel Miller
Okay, that's plausible I guess. There certainly isn't much of a pattern regarding letter distance so I think you may be correct.
Ian White
Guys can we please keep on track to my question please. I need help.
I got it wrong like I said but it's a stupid question. It doesn't test Fluid iq but rather it tests Crystallized iq. Vowels is something that is learner so therefore Crystallized intelligence so I'm not sure why they put it as a fluid Question
Jaxson Clark
Eh, now that it's come to my attention I see that I haven't differentiated between vowels and consonants since I was in grade school. I wouldn't think to even bother. They're all just letters to me. But I do see that if you were looking for differences in things, that it is a literal differentiation.

What kind of brainlet refers to memory tests as "crystallised intelligence"?
Andrew Watson
1. 5 2. 4 3. AAMM 4. Africa 5. Researching radioactive elements 6. Approximately 8 billion 7. sagacious
Camden Johnson
ur kinda fucked bro t. high fluid high crystalized and high as fuck
Mason Perry
Because there is no such thing as "fluid intelligence". Every single "fluid intelligence" question is derived from some trick which you can beat if you've encountered it before and can remember it.
You're just a little deficient in experiences. Too much time reading books and following a linear path to knowledge rather than stumbling around long enough to detect patterns. It might seem like others have more "fluid intelligence", but that's only because they can't stand reading and would rather just stumble around until they get somewhere.
Caleb Allen
That's kind of what it is tho. Crystallized intelligence is learnt while fluid is more innate. A lot of "intelligent" and educated people like myself think they are intelligent when we only have high Crystallized intelligence and are good school test takers but lack that raw processing intelligence that comes from high fluid intelligence. My fluid intelligence was tested at a measly 81 while my Crystallized intelligence I scored 133. Hard to believe I know. I'm also on the spectrum in case anyone was wondering. Very mild but still
Nolan Brooks
Knowing the world population has nothing to do with intelligence. It's just repeating shit you heard
Tyler Clark
If you seriously got the questions wrong in that example of fluid intelligence you are sub 115 IQ and lack basic problem solving skills.
Take this test and post your results if the thread is still up

My personal theory on book smarts vs street smarts (aka common sense): >Book smarts is accumulating facts and ideas from people who came before you. Why reinvent the wheel? >Street smarts is discerning when someone is lying to you; or at the very least, trying to sell you something
People with book smarts but not street smarts certainly know a lot of things but are too trusting. They take everything at face value and often assume others never have ulterior motives. People with street smarts but not book smarts fall for crazy conspiracies. They know in their gut they are being lied to, but fall for crazy alternative explanations like flat earth or aliens.

Thanks bro this helps me cope. I agree with a lot of this. Interesting take and I'm thankful

>all the butthurt Salieri's in this thread claiming that fluid god knowledge is just another form of memorized academic knowledge cope. cope niggers. i am Mozart. you will be forgotten. kneel
Jack Phillips
That is wrong and misunderstanding what fluid intelligence. Fluid intelligence is about solving problems you haven't encountered before. Its literally the only difference between crystallized and fluid intelligence. Someone who can handle situations they have never encountered better than others has a high level of fluid intelligence.
Blake Reyes
AM because there are no curves in the letters lol
David Long
Oh shit, this slide thread just reminded me of all those Chinese human rights violations!
Someone should do something.

#5, 4, ????. Africa, something something radiation (I'd care enough to learn more if she were ever brought up for a statement with more substance than "Slaaaaay kweeeen!!!"), above 7 billion (have we hit 9 yet?), I'd have to guess lineal as it certainly isn't bizarre or ascetic and I can't even begin to guess what sagacious means.
>Vowels is something that is learner so therefore Crystallized intelligence so I'm not sure why they put it as a fluid Question It's AAMM because all the rest start with letters with a straight bar instead of an angled bar. Ignore the fact that they are letters, rather focus on how they are drawn. Is that fluid enough for you?
Cooper Flores
Yes this would make more sense. Now it would be a Fluid iq question. Like I said I got it wrong and only had the answer key but with no explanation. But your explanation sounds correct, having said that I'm not a good person to ask as my fluid iq is atrocious.
Henry Ward
I think the distinction is a colloquialism for the difference between extrinsic vs intrinsic knowledge. extrinsic knowledge is not going to a shitty neighborhood because you researched the crime stats. intrinsic knowledge is to not go there due to the bad vibe.

RRTT since Romeo and Tango have the same number of letters and both end in the same letter.
And that intelligence doesn't exist. Throw a novice behind a chess board, sit them at a magic draft or queue them up for a game of dota and watch them flounder. HARD. Someone with zero experience in these things will not be able to deduce the patterns no matter how good their "fluid intelligence" is.
All fluid intelligence is based on experience. You cannot divorce your past experience from any exam. It's all pattern recognition, and the people who are good at it have spent a lot more time practicing recognizing patterns.
