Part of me says nothing ever happens and this will be more temporary outrage. The other side of me has a glimmer of hope.

My guess is there will be some announcement that the FBI found some damning evidence and has turned that information over to the DOJ. The DOJ will then sit on it for as long as they can, whether it's something significant or not, and the media will speculate repeatedly. There will be "leaks" from anonymous people who allege to have information about what the FBI found and another New York Times journalist will win the Pulitzer prize. This will hang over until election and won't be resolved until after the election is over.

Either no indictment happens and this gives Rs ammo to take all the way through 2024. Or there is something slightly worthy of a raid and they sit on it and drag it out all the way to 2024. There's not going to be some damning piece of whatever because this is something arguably a violation but that is also approaching a legal negligible action by a president. This is more the DOJ being forced into a political tool by the Ds, which is gross.
