Nothing is going to stop this coming era of Tolkien fanfic productions from coming: The WB suit was settled in the Tolkien Estate's favor in July of 2017, but the legal and business costs of the lawsuit (even with the settlement) left the TE effectively bankrupt. Christopher was forced to resign in August and in November the TE sold production rights to Amazon for this Rings of Power shit and effectively made it clear to any company, that wants that Middle Earth is for sale to anyone who wants a piece.
Everyone who can afford the TE's price is going to take a crack at making Tolkien-based games, movies, TV series, etc. over the next decade or two and virtually all of them will undoubtedly be complete shit. The only thing we can hope for is that at least a few of them will be at least interesting. An animated movie narrated by Miranda Otto (Eowyn in the Jackson trilogy) about Helm (voiced by Brian Cox) leading the Rohirrim to a narrow victory over the Dunlendings in the old wars is pretty darned high on the list of "least-shit things we could hope for".
