However, we haven’t seen anyone go up against a near peer in decades, and it could just be that such campaigns are harder than we anticipated. Iraq had nearly obsolete equipment in the Iraq and gulf wars and no foreign benefactor for intelligence or modern radars. I mean, Russians are literally flying around with fucking Garmins in their cockpits, so let’s not pretend they are as sophisticated as NATO in terms of target acquisition/identification, but it could also be that AA technology has reached a point that stalemates are more likely than in the past.
