At what point did all talk show hosts become total sellouts?

The clown show accelerated after obama for sure. But Bush jr on his second term acted like a Biden-lite at times so everyone had easy scripts by going political.

Colbert probably bought into all the hype the Colbert Report got. His character was fun for a little bit when I was a normie leftist retard.
But the schtick got old fast. His bit then became dropping character a little bit and laughing at himself.
If you've ever been in the studio audience for any of these late night shows, you'd know this shit is the ultimate fakery. They seat you based on attractiveness, send out some shitty comedian hype man to stir up the audience, herd you around like cattle if they need it to seem like the crowd is bigger than it is. It goes on and on.
All of this shit is fake, the 'hilarious' routines are based on fake audience laughter to reinforce your belief that this guy's a laugh riot. And at the end of the day, it's all just making a silly face while going

And it just make people feel superior watching it. It's really sad and sick how it all works. Colbert was a funny character actor, too. He's basically garbage now, and deserves death. I loved him in Strangers With Candy.

Jon Stewart was really not seen as a sell out in early 2000's. He would go after Dems pretty regularly. But by 2010 or so, it was impossible to keep your job without openly supporting Democrats. Trashing Republicans was always en vogue.

i loved the guy growing up. strangers with candy was hilarious. that clown bit he did when Jerri's father died was amazing. even though as a kid i thought the colbert report was extremely try-hard and unfunny (mostly miss), but well done on at least his part because he always "stayed in character" and did such a good job spoofing narcissist faggot news anchors

in retrospect, the sad part about the colbert report is that it wasn't as much of a spoof as i thought it was because his alter-ego is his actual personality. that was the ultimate redpill for me about stephen: he's not as talented a performer as i originally thought. maybe he's a decent writer but i haven't seen him say anything funny or spot on for many years now. from the moment i first saw an episode of his show (even before it was 99% partisan political pandering), i realized stephen is a washed up unfunny hack.
